Year 7 competition winners with Mike Bird from the RSPB
Students in year 7 will be spying on some feathery friends this spring.
As part of the school’s application for bronze Eco Schools status pupils will be learning about birds in the UK. Year 10 pupils have already made bird boxes in their Technology classes and year 7 pupils will be watching RSPB web cams. Throughout the season students will be able to watch their nests as the chicks develop during their science lessons.
Mike Bird from the RSPB came into school on the 25 April to introduce the web cams and to talk to pupils about the nesting habits of birds. He also presented prizes for a competition the school ran which involved matching birds to their nests.
